Swim Night

This year we're starting our spring and summer water sequence with a series of swim nights. We want to do some awesome water sports stuff later in the summer, including a big canoe trip in June. But we can only do that if everyone's comfortable around water, and preferably getting pretty good at swimming. This is a great chance to kick up (haha) your swimming ability a couple notches, or learn some new lifesaving skills. So whether you're the swim team captain or you don't know what the front crawl is, come on out!

Participation in these meetings is required for the canoeing trips and summer camp, but you should come anyway because it'll be lots of fun and you'll learn something, or help teach someone if you already know what you're doing! If you're new to swimming, we'll set you up with an instructor to learn and practice your strokes, so you can pass your swim test! If you can pass the swim test (100 yards of swimming), you'll work on mastering dives, survival floats, and perhaps other exotic strokes, like the double trudgen. Once you do that, you'll get to practice your lifesaving skills, from simple throw ropes to c-spine back-boarding. Don't worry about the weather, we'll be at a heated indoor pool. The meeting starts at 7:20 as usual, but be sure to be there on time as we want to optimize our pool time. You will need a bathing suit and towel to swim (please no speedos).

Definately come out to this meeting if possible because we will be doing swim checks for the year and we need your data. Even if you took one last year we need updated figures, so come out ready to swim!
