I'm Jason. I was a scout in Troop 8 for seven years, and now am what passes for an adult volunteer around here. As a scout, I held many leadership positions, including : Not-even-APL, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, (All four of those in the span of one year!) Senior Patrol Leader (for like 1.75 years) and finally, Elder Patrol Z Scout who Does Nothing. (For the remaining .25 years.) Right now I'm a final-semester senior at the University of Michigan, planning on going to medical school. Not content with the typical pre-med track, I am a dual English / Ecology, Evolution and Biodiversity major, with a minor in Russian. Apart from Scouts and school, I liked to do theatre, and acted in a couple shows, including As You Like It, The Crucible, Parade, The Addams Family, and Macbeth. I haven't been able to pursue acting all that much in college, as there are a lot of people who are actually good at that kind of thing. However, in April 2018, I made a grand return to the stage, acting in my Russian 302 production of "Office Romance," which you could definitely find if you tried hard enough.

The photo that used to be at left is me atop a pirate ship at the illustrious Sea Shell City near Pellston, Michigan. Last spring, I took General Ecology at the University of Michigan Biological station, and throughout the course, Sea Shell City became kind of a running joke as a real tourist trap with nothing to offer. Always one to take a joke too far, I decided to make it my life's mission to get someone to take me there. (Never mind the fact I had a car there and could drive myself - that's no fun) In a fortuitous turn of events, my GSI accidentally took the wrong exit while heading back to the Station, which also happened to be the exit for Sea Shell City. Using my silver tongue, I persuaded (read: begged) him to take me there, and he eventually relented. Unfortunately, when we got there, we realized that the City itself had closed three minutes before our arrival. The pirate ship out front, however, was not closed, except, perhaps, on a social level. But social mores have never been an obstacle to me, so I climbed onto the pirate ship and took the majestic pose you see at right.

About a week later, I returned while Sea Shell City was open, and it was pretty terrible, and generally disappointing.
