***Update***- Hybrid Canoe Day

***Update*** The trip has been shortened from a Saturday-Sunday trip to only Saturday.  We are still meeting at St. Thomas at 9:00 on Saturday.  Then we drive to Michigan Paddlesports on Portage Lake during all of Saturday to go and teach you various cool things you need to know for flat-water canoeing like different paddle strokes, how to reset a capsized boat, and more.

You will be dropped off at home around 4:30 on Saturday instead of Sunday evening.  Scouts don't need to bring any camping gear that they may have packed.  But they will need to bring the canoeing gear on the gear list (http://troop8.org/content/gearlist/canoewhitewater-day-trip), in addition to wind gear and drinking water.  It will be sunny, but at the same time the water is cold, the air is chilly, and it will be windy.

Sorry for the very late notice of this change.  The decision was made late last night based on some surprise information about lower ability levels of some participants than previously thought, as well as more dangerous river conditions than anticipated.  This combination would've made too high of a risk for the troop. We're really sorry if this caused any problems.
