Patrol A and D gear check | Patrol C First Aid
Patrol A and D
This meeting is a gear check for both of the closely upcoming patrol trips, scheduled as such in order to make room for the parent meeting the following week. In order for us to have a safe and fun winter camping experience, passing this gear check is required to go on the trip, as scouts will be cold and miserable without the proper gear. This means that if a you (a scout) forget a piece of gear at your house you will have to call home and have your parents drop it off. Parents tend to get annoyed when you call them to bring you things you forgot, so bring all your gear to the meeting.
What gear do you need to bring? The gear list below is a list of all the gear you need to bring. The list was customized for this specific trip and is very good. Bring everything thing on the list and nothing more.
After passing your gear check, packs will be stored in the troop room until the trip, including Patrol A. You will not have access to your pack until the trip.
Finally, the end time of this meeting is 9:00, but we will go until everyone has completed their gear check, so if you as a scout have not completed your gear check at 9:00 we will expect you to stay until it's completed.
If you have any questions about the trip or the gear list contact your patrol leader. They will be happy to help you with your problems, or direct you to an adult that can help you. It's better to ask questions in advance.
While patrols A and D are working through their gear checks, Patrol C will get some extra attention doing first aid. The first aid will include lots of fake blood, and is an invaluable skill. Getting some direct patrol attention will allow for good first aid teaching.
What an exciting and packed meeting! This is our introductory webelos meeting. Webelos will come and view the troop 8 slideshow, and then talk with current scouts about the troop and get and general overview of what we do in the troop. (Don't worry, it won't be boring, we'll bore your parents later.) After that you will be get to be part of our meeting, likely getting the play victim for our first aid scenario (there will be fake blood).
