Jason Dean Profile

Adult Information
Eagle Scout:
Jason was a scout in Troop 8 for seven years, from 2008 to 2015. He is unsure if he is actually an Assistant Scoutmaster, but at this point is too afraid to ask. (edit: He is now, as he has filled out the requisite paperwork!) Jason is a student at the University of Michigan, studying everything from English Language and Literature, to Ecology, and Russian, and hopes that all of that will somehow get him into medical school. When he grows up, he hopes to be a pediatrician, as he likes working with children. (Hence his continuing involvement with Troop 8.)
Profile Information
HAM Radio Callsign:

I'm Jason. I was a scout in Troop 8 for seven years, and now am what passes for an adult volunteer around here. As a scout, I held many leadership positions, including : Not-even-APL, Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, (All four of those in the span of one year!) Senior Patrol Leader (for like 1.75 years) and finally, Elder Patrol Z Scout who Does Nothing. (For the remaining .25 years.) Right now I'm a junior at the University of Michigan, and I'm planning on doing pre-med. (Planning may be the wrong word now, as I'm pretty committed at this point.) Much to the surprise of all of my friends, however, I want to be an English major. Simply shocking. I also kinda like foreign languages: I'm pretty okay at Spanish and am currently learning Russian. (Because I have to be special.) Apart from Scouts and school, I like to do theatre, and have acted in a couple shows, including As You Like It, The Crucible, Parade, The Addams Family, and Macbeth. I've pretty much given up on doing theatre in college, as there are just too many people who are actually good at that kind of thing. In other news, I've tried to get involved with a lot of other things over the past year, including fencing, but nothing's really stuck. Maybe I'll find my true calling someday.

The photo at left is me standing on a pirate ship at the illustrious Sea Shell City near Cheboygan, MI. I went up north this summer to the University of Michigan Biological Station to take an ecology course. Sea Shell City became kind of a running joke, as it is this giant tourist trap that really didn't have anything of interest. Always one to take a joke too far, I made it my life's goal to get someone to take me there, and one day, my TA accidentally took the exit that Sea Shell City is located on. Using my silver tongue, I persuaded (read: begged) him to take me there. Unfortunately, the City itself had closed at 5, three minutes before we arrived. However, the pirate ship that stands out front was still open for business (I'm not the kind of guy who believes in things like "recommended ages"), so I climbed up and took the majestic pose you see to your left now. I never did forget the words my TA spoke to me that day: "Forget it, Jase. It's Sea Shell City."
